We are greatly saddened to announce that we have lost our Founder and long-time Chairman, James H. Keene, III. The Brownville Concert Series was his vision, his creation and his legacy. All of Brownville owes him a debt of thanks. How fitting that he had just attended the 28th New York Cabaret Convention (which is the same age we are) and just went to the Opera.

Memorials are suggested by the family to Opera Omaha or Brownville Concert Series.  As Jim would say, “the show must go on!”

Welcome to our 28th great season!
It just keeps getting better and better!

The 2018 Season offers a wide variety of musical genres including Broadway/Cabaret, Jazz/Blues, Rock, Bluegrass/Americana and, of course, classical. Six of the nine shows feature exciting talent that has never appeared with us before and three of the shows feature select favorites enjoying a return visit. The Christmas Show, as always, is unique to Brownville - you can’t hear it anywhere else. Every year we reach beyond our own borders to other parts of the world to find special talent - this year it is Australia. The Brownville Concert Series is not just another community concert series featuring local talent and touring artists - it is very intentionally the best of the best! We are proud of the standard we insist upon regarding who and what is presented on our stage. Come see, hear, and thrill to the magic of live music in Brownville

The Concert Series has successfully reorganized itself as an independent not-for- profit organization and has assumed ownership of the Concert Hall in a generous gift by James H. Keene, III and his wife Ruth Haley Keene thus ensuring the operation of the Series in perpetuity. The legal work to establish the Brownville Concert Series as an independent organization with 501c3 tax exempt status is complete.  The Southeast Nebraska community will continue to enjoy the benefits of world class music and other events as it has for a quarter of a century.

On January 17, The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that they have awarded $350,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the Brownville Concert Series requiring $109,000 in matching funds for improvements designed to provide for investments in effective and affordable tourist attraction facilities to grow Nebraska communities that invest in long-term development. The tourist attraction project improvements will enable severely disabled persons and the elderly accessibility to attraction’s buildings and grounds.

We cannot do this without your help! We want to thank you for your support of our first twenty-six years! We are counting on you for the next twenty-six!
